PLA - The better filament choice
What is PLA? PLA, also known as polylactic acid or polylactide, is a thermoplastic crafted from renewable resources like corn starch, tapioca roots, or sugar cane, as opposed to other industrial materials primarily derived from petroleum.
Is PLA compostable?! Yes, but it does have some special requirements and need to be sent to a commercial facility. It will not break down in your garden variety (see what we did there?) composters.
As always, the BEST way to reduce your carbon footprint is to reduce the single use items in our lives - water bottle, grocery bags, etc.
